Prepare a one-page resume and a short cover letter. Describe your experience in the resume succinctly, and if necessary get some help in preparing it.
Your cover letter should also be concise. Do not repeat what is in your resume, other than as a brief reference. Have several friends and relatives read your material and ask them to critique it objectively.
Of course you do not want to lie in the interview. Your answer will depend in part how closely you are related and how well you know the relative. For example, “Yes, she is my aunt, and I know her well enough that I’m sure she will appreciate the care and effort I plan to put into the job.” Or, “Yes he is my second cousin, but I have only met him once or twice and never had any interaction. Therefore I expect to make a special effort to ensure he appreciates the kind of work I do for him.”

Also, you’ll need three different type of resumes.
One for email in ACSII format
One in html for the web
And a regular paper resume
The one in ACSII format can be a copy of a microsoft word resume. You’ll need to have this resume match the keywords for the job you are seeking.
About negative about family connected references – Since you’ll need three references, one could your boss that just happens to be your relative. You’ll need to give all your references copies of your resume and letter of reference, plus you’ll need to coach them on what to say.
It’s easy, just have them repeat what’s written on the letter of reference. Don’t have them answer any other questions outside of work performance, no personal questions.
Like this, gee that was a good question, but I feel uncomfortable answering questions not related to his work performance. Company policy. You understand, don’t you?
