Tricks to get a Job

The first thing we need to do is apologize for the title of this article because there are no real tricks on how to get a job. Even with that being the case, there are a lot of reports being sold over the internet professing to give the buyer some secret trick or technique that will land him or her a job. So if you happen to be one of those people contemplating spending your hard earned cash for such a report then we suggest that you stop, take a deep breath and keep your credit card in your wallet or purse.

If you really want to know the ’secret’ to landing that job, then here it is:
The majority of the purported tips and tricks are simply common sense.

If you want to really be sure your resume gets reviewed and moved to the top of the heap, then all you have to do is to apply to, or send your resume to, companies looking for exactly your job skills and experience level. It makes good stories or urban myths when you hear about someone that wasn’t even remotely qualified for a job, yet they somehow land the job and become some sort of miracle employee. That makes a great movie but in real life, it just doesn’t happen. Recruiters, and HR departments scour resumes making sure the people they recommend to be interviewed are qualified for the current open position. Of course having the job skills and experience level is great but then you have to sell your personality during the interview process. And while you are at it, be sure to take note of the ‘personality’ of the company too. You have most likely known someone (maybe even yourself) who has accepted a position that they are supremely qualified for, have plenty of experience for and can quite easily accomplish the required tasks and yet they are incredibly unhappy in their new job. This can happen if your own personality and expectations do not mesh with those of the company. This miss-mesh happens a lot. That’s why you see companies advertising for the some jobs over and over again.

And while we are on the subject of resumes, don’t waste your time sending your resume to a company just because the open position has some incredible salary tied to it. If you are not qualified for the job, you aren’t going to get it, no matter what the salary is.

If you are interested in remaining in the same type of job or career path then you should always be in the ‘learning mode’. By keeping up with the latest developments within and associated with your industry, you vastly improve your chances of either finding a new higher paying job, or getting a raise for the job you are currently doing.

So save your money, improve on your skill sets and continue to educate yourself about your industry. Doing those things will get you more interviews. Then all you have to do is let your personality come through and prove your qualifications during the interview process.

Every employer wants qualified employees with personalities that will work well within their established teams.
